Identify

Often unconsciously, one of the biggest issues we deal with is the fear of rejection. That’s why we are drawn to people with similar life experiences. People who ‘identify’ with us are less likely to judge us because they relate on a personal level. To open up to someone who doesn’t have similar life experiences often produces a sense of pity and up to this point in my life, I’ve never had anyone tell me they want to be pitied.

In the following series of short videos, I share my life experiences on various topics so we might ‘identify’ with one another. Through identifying with one another we find compassion and connection, and instead of fear we find hope. If I can overcome the obstacles I’ve faced in life then you can have hope of overcoming also, and if you can overcome the greatest of obstacles then there is hope to overcome for me and others as our paths cross.

Life experiences differ from person to person but at the core we all deal with the same issues- wounds, choices, and false identities. Jesus Christ is the answer and in Him we can be free from the fear, guilt, shame, and blame associated with the times other people have hurt us, the times we have hurt others, and the struggles endured in our search for true identity.

It’s in our overcoming that we are equipped with one of life’s greatest gifts, the gift of mercy. Mercy is the ability to have compassion for someone AND make a real and tangible endeavor to bring relief to their suffering.
